Coun. Derek Dang doesn’t think the city should go to the “exorbitant rate suggested by staff.”
He thinks $5 would be much more palatable to most, setting a family of five back just $25 for a day’s full of activities and entertainment.
“It would be the wrong thing to do,” Dang said about the proposal to charge $15 per head.
But charging some fee would ensure local taxpayers aren’t on the hook for the entire cost of the event.
And as long as the fee is relatively small, it won’t deter people from coming en masse, Dang said.
